A Willful Mind is a Willful Giver

Exodus 35:21-22
Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments. They came, both men and women, as many as had a willing heart, and brought earrings and nose rings, rings and necklaces, all jewelry of gold, that is, every man who made an offering of gold to the Lord.

God has given each one of us, as members of the church, a special duty to do. We should not think of ourselves less talented than anyone else. We should not compare ourselves with others. We should have that “we-feeling”, a sense of belonging and bring whatever we have to offer—with a WILLING mind. The willing attitude is very necessary. God will be pleased with such sacrifices. Let us give of our time, money, effort, talents, spiritual gifts to the Lord with a willing heart.

2 Corinthians 9:7
“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart,not grudgingly or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.”

No one has to force us into doing something for the church, it should be inspired by the Spirit from within. The church will be strengthened if each member puts in the best that he has even if it is “the two mites” that he has. God looks at the intents of the heart.

We should bring our best into the church in such an abundant manner that the “people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done-indeed too much” according to Exodus36: 6, 7.

Prayer:Dear Heavenly Father,make our hearts generous as You have been so generous to us. Thank you for all the wonderful gifts especially your dear Son. Help us to reciprocate your love and care for us. Help us to give willingly,for you are pleased with such sacrifices.Make us active participants in the building of the church. Amen.

Choose God, Love God

Acts 5:3-4
Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”

Matthew 6:21
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Consider Our Ways

Haggai 1:4-10

“Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?”
Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!

“You have sown much, and bring in little;
You eat, but do not have enough;
You drink, but you are not filled with drink;
You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm;
And he who earns wages,
Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”

Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!
Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,”
says the Lord.
“You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?”
says the Lord of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.

Here we find God speaking through the prophet Haggai about the ruins of the temple of God. However, as God looks, He sees that the houses of the people are in perfect condition to which He responds with harshness and many of the blessings of the children of Israel are hindered. Isn’t this a similar situation in some of our lives? How is your relationship with God today? Is it in ruins? How much time do you spend with the Lord each day? Or is He kept as the last “to-do” thing of the day?

God is very jealous about His children. He doesn’t like it when He sees that everything related to your worldly matters is kept in order but everything related to Him in disastrous conditions. When your walk with Him is in ruins and shambles, He is hurt and it says here that there are serious consequences to it. If things are not going as per what you had planned in your life, if everything seems to be a standstill in your life today, why not take a moment to analyze your spiritual life?

Does your life need a makeover? Does it need some dusting off and a renovation?
Do it today. Do not wait till tomorrow. He desires to bless His children. His blessings are our inheritance. But when He plays second fiddle in our lives, know and remember that He needs us to place Him first. As Lord Jesus says,

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
